Is your “head in the right place”?

Is your “head in the right place”?

What does that mean really?

Getting your head in the right place. I’ve thought a lot about that this week and I pose the question. What is the right place? And more importantly: will you know it when you get there?

The answer is: probably not. And here’s why.

We have all been there. Where everything is spinning and you feel as though you are completely out of control. There is too much on your plate. There are too many things going on in your life to: start your business, work on yourself, exercise, get healthy, improve a skill, etc. . .

And then. . . 6 months later. You haven’t grown. You’re exactly the same

And then. . . 12 months later. You haven’t grown. You’re exactly the same

And your head? It’s still spinning. Calculating. Planning. And your heart? Still longing for change.

Let’s be honest here. It’s another excuse NOT to do something.

In a three year period, I was hit by a car while riding my bike, I had 4 major surgeries, a pandemic hit and I was laid off from work, my father passed and my family home was destroyed by an F3 tornado. We were robbed, taken advantage of by con-men contractors and then had a car accident.

And I still managed to grow my business. To shift gears and go in a new direction. To have a spiritual breakthrough and a rebirth of life. It was the worst of times and it was the best of times.

And My head. .. well honestly, it was a roller coaster. I was in pain, grief stricken, stressed, scared, depressed, and yet hopeful and grateful and determined to be a better, stronger, smarter version of myself.

My head wasn’t in the right place at all, but as a result of the storms of life, a great coach, and my own internal work, it MOVED to the right place. I gained more clarity in the DOING. My strength came from the DOING. I learned from DOING.

Don’t get me wrong, planning is important. But we can plan all day every day. We can read the manual and plan it down to perfection and life continues to happen around us. And then. . . we still have to improvise. Sickness in our families, friendship difficulties, stresses over money. Life is not easy and it is just like the ocean. . . it keeps on coming. And we have to roll with the waves.

Your head will continue to change and evolve and that is exactly where we want it to be!

So the moral of this story is. . . . Do the thing that you know you should do. Join the class, get a coach, start the book, and don’t look back. Every day you wait is one day less you have to make things happen for you.

DO the thing. Get better. Grow. Commit. even when you don’t feel like it. Even when it’s easier to put it off. Even when life throws you some curveballs. DO THE THING.

And 6 months later: you are dynamic and hopeful and more confident
And 12 months later: you are unstoppable

And your life will be forever changed!
